By Emily Hirschmann

As every estate agent will tell you, there really is nothing quite like the scent of freshly ground coffee and the taste is simply unbeatable. My latest favourite new toy allows me to experience those very sensations every day at home, for the price of no more than a week’s worth of coffee shop lattes – meet the shiny new Coffee Bean Grinder from Judge.

Kitchenware... Tried & Tested: Judge Coffee Bean Grinder

Small, but robust, with a 200 watt motor and Stainless Steel blade and grinding bowl, this handy little grinder has all the oomph you’ll need to muster some caffeine-fuelled get up and go each morning. With varied coarseness settings and 70g/12-cup capacity, it is perfect for catering for every taste and occasion, as well as being able to create a grind to suit a variety of coffee-making equipment, from your basic cafetier to the very latest pump and drip filter machines.

While not a thing of absolute beauty, the Judge Grinder has a retractable power cord and is easily stored, so needn’t take up space on your work surface. And most importantly of all, it is really incredibly simple to use and clean. It is also suitable for grinding nuts and spices, but personally, I’d prefer not to mix the flavours.

Perfect Partners.

If fresh coffee is your thing, or you’re looking for a gift for an aficionado, the York Coffee Emporium can provide you with the Coffee Grinders soul mate and recommend a blend to suit any palate, made to order and delivered in batches big and small, according to your needs. My personal favourite is the new Emporium Five Bean Blend - an exotic mix of the Brazilian Santos, Java Blawan Estate, Colombian Supremo Huila, Ethiopian Djimmah and Vietnam Arabica Coffees; smoky and earthy without too much of an acidic kick, but they’ll help you to titillate your taste buds anyway you choose.

The Judge Coffee Been Grinder is £19.46 and available from www.Amazon.co.uk   The York Coffee Emporium’s Five Bean Blend is available from www.yorkcoffeeemporium.co.uk
